Getting to San Diego

We suggest flying into the San Diego International Airport (SAN).

Getting around San Diego

We recommend renting a car if you will be here for more than one or two days. It is possible to get around with taxis and Uber, and there is a commuter train called the Coaster that leaves from downtown San Diego and stops at various places along the coastline. Nevertheless, it’s a driving city and the wedding is in a rural area. That being said, Del Mar itself (the location of two of the hotels we recommend) is a walkable little town.

Getting to Quincy's House
(where the Ceremony and Reception will be)

Quincy's house is out in the countryside; so
here are turn by turn directions to download and
here are directions from your current location.
We will also have shuttles from near the recommended hotels to the wedding and back.

There are a number of wonderful hotels in the area.
We recommend staying at one of these five:

The Del Mar Motel on the Beach

$ - (800) 223-8449

Literally on the beach. There’s nothing too fancy about this place, but we think it will be a really fun option because of its location – near fun bars, restaurants, and other activities, and, did we mention, it’s literally on the beach. 25 minutes from the Bocks’ house.

The Clarion - Del Mar Inn

$ - (858) 755-9765 or (800) 451-4515

The Clarion is newly renovated, comfortable, and moderately priced. This place is not super fancy, but it will be clean and newly furnished, and it does have some nice views of the ocean. The Clarion is about a ten-minute walk from the main stretch of Del Mar shops and restaurants, and a 20-25 minute drive from the Bocks' house.

We have a block of 10 rooms.
$125-$152/night
Ask for "Bock/Stokes Wedding."

The Indigo - Del Mar

$$ - (858) 755-1501

The Hotel Indigo Del Mar is a slightly more upscale, "boutique" hotel right next door to the Clarion, also offering moderate prices. It features a nice patio and pool area with an outdoor fireplace and views of the ocean. Also about a ten-minute walk from Del Mar shops and restaurants, and a 20-25 minute drive from the Bocks' house.

We have a block of 10 rooms.
$189-$209/night
Ask for "Bock/Stokes Wedding."

The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe

$$$ - (858) 756-1131

Classic, elegant, old-California hotel. The Inn isn’t on the beach; it’s ranch style, with beautiful gardens and landscaping. It’s been a mainstay luxury hotel in the area for decades – and apparently was a hangout for Bing Crosby back in the day. 15 minutes from the Bocks’ house.

We have a block of rooms.
$319-$339/night

L’Auberge

$$$$ - (800) 245-9757

Describes itself as “offering the perfect balance of beachy casual and upscale chic.” This is a beautiful hotel, located in Del Mar and overlooking the Pacific Ocean. There are fun shops, galleries, restaurants, and bars just out the door, and there’s easy access to the beach! 20 minutes from the Bocks’ house.

Update: booked up now, but may have cancellations.

We will have buses running from nearby these hotels to the Bocks’ house on the afternoon of the wedding. Although The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe is the closest to the wedding, there will likely be other wedding-related activities going on in Del Mar!

If you’d like to stay at a hotel other than those we have listed, you should consider how far away it is from the Bocks’.

The wedding is in October in San Diego, and it will be outside. So that means it will be warm while the sun is still out, then a bit chilly in the evening. We want our guests to dress comfortably but with style! Think beach formal, dressy casual, or creative cocktail.
